I've been working in med-surg for 3 years and I'm interested in moving to ICU. What should I know before making this transition? Any tips for someone new to critical care?

ICU is a great specialty! I made the transition 2 years ago. Make sure you're comfortable with critical thinking and quick decision-making. Also, ACLS certification is usually required.

Shadow in an ICU if possible before making the move. It's very different from med-surg but incredibly rewarding. The learning curve is steep but worth it!
