Guess Who's Floating Again?

Three shifts in a row now, they've got me floating to another unit. Don't even ask if I'm comfortable or competent, just toss me in there. And the team on that unit? None too thrilled to see me, let me tell you. All because of these crazy staffing ratios. I get it, we're all in the same boat and we're short-staffed, but at what point does patient safety factor into this? At what point do we start to matter? How are you all handling this floating business?

Same here, always floating. It's like being the new kid at school every shift. Not fun.

Actually, I don't mind the floating so much. Gives me a chance to learn different units and expand my skills. The staffing ratios though, that's another story...

Remember, floating is a chance to advocate for yourself and your patients. Speak up if you're not comfortable with the assignment. You have the right to refuse unsafe work.
