Traveler Money Misunderstandings
I'm on my sixth travel nursing contract. Just finished a shift where three staff nurses all but cornered me at the nurses' station to grill me about my pay. I don't mind talking about it, but it feels like they think I'm rolling in dough. The truth? 75% of my 'great' pay goes to housing, food, travel expenses. I'm not trying to make enemies, but I'm not a golden goose. Wish people understood that a little more. Anyone else had trouble with this?
I feel this. My own family doesn't understand that most of my 'great' pay goes to cost of living. It's not all you think.
Gotta disagree. My travel assignments always gave me wiggle room financially. Maybe it's time to renegotiate your contracts?
I got so tired of explaining this, I started telling people I was a circus performer on the side. That's where all my 'traveler money' came from.
