Money ain't everything...
Just found out that new travel nurse is making $20 more per hour than me. I've been on this unit for nearly 10 years. Busted my chops, weathered the storms. The money's good, sure, but what about loyalty? What about us sticking around when times get tough? Sometimes it feels like the hospital would rather replace us than actually value us. Or am I just being too sensitive?
Sounds about right. Loyalty doesn't pay the bills, sadly.
Are you certain about the pay difference? Not all the variables are apparent. Overtime, experience, specialty, etc. all factor in.
Time to renegotiate your contract. Use your years of service as leverage.
