Had a run in with a fresh grad today. Bright eyed and all that. I remember what it was like. The nerves, the excitement, the fear... it's a wild ride. But, how do you deal with them when they can’t keep up in a high-stress environment? I know they’ll get better, but the patients can’t wait. It’s hard.
It's tough, I get it. But remember, we were all new at some point. Let's guide them, not judge.
Here's a thought - maybe the issue isn't with the new grads, but with the way we onboard and train them?
Had a similar issue with a new RN a while back. She was struggling, but she ended up one of the best on our floor. Give it time.
