Floating Nightmares
But seriously, is anyone else constantly getting floated to units where they have no clue what's going on? Third time this month I’ve been shipped off from my home unit. You can’t just drop me in ICU and expect me to keep up. It’s a mess. Isn’t there something against this sort of thing?
Same boat here. I've been a float nurse for 2 years, it never gets easier. You just adapt.
Honestly, I find it refreshing sometimes. Each unit is a new challenge. Keeps the job interesting for me.
Once got floated to peds from geriatrics. Was like going from the frying pan into the fire. Really wish they'd standardize training for these situations.
