They say the first year is the hardest, but I didn't expect THIS hard. I feel like I'm always one wrong move away from disaster. Drowning in charting, juggling tasks... I've started doubting if this is even the right profession for me. How long did it take for you veterans to feel competent? Could use a light at the end of this tunnel.
I feel ya. It took me a couple of years before I stopped second-guessing myself. One day at a time, you'll get there.
Honestly, I was ready to quit after my first month. It never magically gets easy, but it does become more manageable. Stick it out!
If you're feeling this overwhelmed, maybe it's the unit not the profession. Have you considered trying a different specialty? You might find a better fit.
