Caught in the pay gap
Just found out that a coworker with less experience makes more than me. I mean, we're talking about a 2-year difference in our experience level, yet they make more. Is there no justification? No rationale? Do all these years of dedication and hard work count for anything? Increased responsibility, specialized skills - what are they all worth? Is it a common thing in nursing or am I just plain unlucky? Thoughts?
Sounds familiar. Had the same experience once. Turns out our pay structure was based on negotiation skills more than experience or skill set.
Hang in there. It's frustrating, but it's important to talk to your supervisor about it. They might not even be aware of the discrepancy.
Might not be about experience. Consider factors like differentials or certifications. It could be complicated.
