Short Staffed and Livid
We were down three staff last night. Three. Why? Because management can't seem to retain anyone. Am I the only one fed up with this? How are we supposed to deliver quality care when we're constantly understaffed and overstressed? Are all hospitals this bad, or is it just mine?
Are there any retention initiatives at your hospital? Ours started offering tuition reimbursement and it's helped a bit.
Have you considered floating? Sometimes a change of scenery helps. Did that for a year and felt so much better.
The night of New Year's Eve, we were down four. Just two RNs for 20 patients. Thought the world was ending, seriously.
