Heard about the new guy's pay
So, I just found out that the new hire on my unit is getting paid way more than me. Mind you, this guy hasn't even been a nurse for two years yet. I've been in this game for over a decade, but he's pulling in more than me because...what? He's got a buddy in HR? It's insane. What's the point in busting our asses in this profession if loyalty and experience don't even matter anymore?
Totally in the same boat. Didn't realize loyalty had an expiration date.
Just for another perspective, I've seen this sometimes when the new hire was a really tough get. Doesn't make it right, but could be more about them than you.
I had the same experience. Turns out she was a BSN, while I'm an ADN. Once I got my BSN, my pay bumped up too.
